Our forthcoming exhibition to be held in May 2015 has now had all it’s exhibitor slots filled. If you wish to be an exhibitor at any of our future events, please get in touch.
We have begun work on a new project to create a layout of Mill Hill Station from the 1950s/1960s.
You can find out about the project, right here on our website. If you have any information about the area from around that time, and if you have any photos too, we would love for you to get in touch.
The ELMRO model railway exhibition at Mill Hill Community Centre took place on the 17th and 18th of January 2015.
The following organisations exhibited a number of layouts :
- Whits End – John Whittaker
- New Chapel – Ian Perkin
- Monkey Island & Isle de Singe – Simon Dawson
Lytham St Annes Railway Society
- Bryn-y-Fedw – David Bird
Romiley Methodist Railway Modellers
- The Harbour – John Rodway
Leigh Model Railway Society
- Sand Creek – Chris Bates
- Wilf & Joan Helliwell
There were also 3 trade stalls at the event :
- SMTF – Hazel Grove, Cheshire – Dave Denton
- Hoyles Models – Botary Bay, Chorley – David Hoyle
- Grosmont Bookshop – North Yorkshire – George Morton
The Mayor, Cllr Alan Cottam, and Mayoress Mrs Agnes Cottam, alongside council leader Cllr Kake Hollern attended the event.
Despite the terrible January weather, the event was a great success, raising approximately £300 The East Lancashire Hospice. A big thanks to everyone who exhibited, and everyone who attended. Also, a great deal of thanks goes to the volunteers from the East Lancashire Hospice who were in attendance all weekend.
We are pleased to announce that as part of the National Lottery’s Big Lottery Fund, ELMRO has been awarded a grant.
“This project is a voluntary organisation in Blackburn. The organisation will use the funding to run workshops and exhibition events as well as building capacity for their organisation. This will enable them to run community activities for local people who are often isolated in their own homes through disabilities or age.”
